Meeting Information

The 2007 GCRC National was the last face-to-face meeting of BRIA. Due to the changes in the GCRC program, additional meetings have not been funded. Until such time as BRIA is able to find funding to hold its own meetings or a national meeting is funded, we will try to find other meeting opportunities and strategies to bring membership together.

Past Meetings

The BRIA was founded in the early 1980's. The first official meeting of our group took place in Baltimore around 1981. At that time we were called the Organization of CLINFO System Managers (OCSM) and there were only about 10 system managers in the group. Today the BRIA includes approximately 70 members from 60 different institutions around the country.

Just outside of Washington D.C. and located on the Metro line. This meeting included all GCRC groups except the Statisticians, although they sent a representive subset of about half a dozen members.

Joint meeting with all groups, except for the Association of GCRC Statisticians.
1994 New Orleans, LA
Joint meeting with the Society of Administrative Managers. The first meeting with a live Internet connection in the machine room.
1993 San Antonio, TX
1992 (December 1991) Reston, VA
Joint meeting with all groups, except for the Association of GCRC Statisticians. This is the first of the winter meetings and that is the reason for meeting twice in 1991.

Paradigm shift for the meetings. There was no meetings in 1986. This was the first of the spring meetings. Until this time, all meetings were held in the fall. The next four meetings are held in May.

B&W was the host institute and the group was still called the OCSM. Not sure what year/meeting the group changed its name.
